2017
This self-portrait painting was created at the end of my MA in 2017. It represents the end of one journey and the start of another. The earlier works focussed on my childhood, and I feel that the subject’s inward focus within the painting is suggestive of me, the artist, looking forward having now exorcised some of the baggage from my past.
This painting was my winning submission to the Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize.

I am a painter and storyteller.I am drawn toward telling stories that often go untold, such as recounting the lives of unsung Coventry people for City of Culture or telling the stories of people facing mental health challenges. Creating these paintings can be demanding, but also incredibly rewarding for both the subject and myself as the artist. With all my paintings I like to create a sense of expectancy, an unresolved desire to wonder what may have happened, be happening or what might come to pass.In 2024 I'm hoping to secure Arts Council Funding to do more work with people recovering from PTSd and also embark on a PhD.
